Lauren Rooney

PhD Candidate

Areas of interest: European art, 18th century–20th century; history of aesthetics; aesthetic discourses of the Enlightenment.

Lauren Rooney is a PhD student studying art and aesthetics in modern Europe. Her current interests include the history of ideas about the "lifespans" of artworks and themes of self-deception in writing about visual art. In June 2024, she graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in art history and Romance languages and literatures.
