Collaborating with NYU Libraries
Acaye Kerunen: 1246 Days Around the Sun
Acaye Kerunen: 1246 Days Around the Sun marks the first collaboration between the Institute of Fine Arts and NYU Libraries in support of a Great Hall Exhibition. Initiated by Lori Salmon, Head of the IFA Library, this new partnership shaped the exhibition’s expanded research component.
Developed by the graduate student curators, the exhibition draws on NYU Libraries’ rich collections to frame the larger story of Kerunen’s artistic practice. As part of this new research initiative, students in the “Acaye Kerunen: Polymath” seminar used books, journals, and archival resources to build the exhibition’s interpretive foundation—identifying themes, evaluating sources, and integrating research with curatorial and design decisions.

Research materials, including archival photographs, are presented in vitrines on the first and second floors of the Duke House and through a curated collection of books, allowing students and visitors to explore the broader contexts of Kerunen’s work.
This project was supported by faculty and staff from the Institute of Fine Arts Library, the Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Center, Elmer Holmes Bobst Library, Special Collections, the Barbara Goldsmith Preservation and Conservation Department, and Knowledge Access and Resource Management Services.
